Who We Are:
The Retired Employees Association of the California Teachers Association (REACTA) is a volunteer organization made up of retirees of the CTA and many of its affiliates. Members statewide include all retirees and the spouses/domestic partners of eligible members who are recipients of the CTA Employees' Retirement Benefits Plan and/or direct (not dependent) benefits from the CTA Employees' Health and Welfare Benefits Trust.
When you join Retired Employees Association CTA Union, you become part of a community of workers who are united in their fight for justice and equality. Connect with other members, attend events, and get involved in the fight for workers' rights.
Purpose:
Our hearts go out to the several REACTA members who have been
affected by the devastating wildfires in Southern California. We do know
that some members have lost homes, and many have had to evacuate. Our
thoughts are with you through these difficult days.
Please be reminded that REACTA members are eligible for short-term
financial aid following incidents such as fire, flood, or earthquakes, or
health emergencies. Funds can be used to help replace personal items,
evacuation expenses or needs following the wildfires recently experienced
by our REACTA members. The REACTA Executive Board will decide on
the amount of assistance that is provided up to and including $1500 per member.
Members seeking assistance should fill out the REACTA Member Assistance Form.
The www.cdss.ca.gov website has many resources for those displaced by
wildfires, including info on FEMA disaster aid. Fire victims needing to
replace lost or damaged ID or licenses can get free replacement from the
CA DMV at www.dmv.ca.gov or by calling 800.777.0133.
Wildfire victims are reminded that they do not need to sign a settlement
with their insurance company immediately- The CA Department of
Insurance has an on-line guide for wildfire victims at www.insurance.ca.gov
.
Those REACTA members who are also CTA-Retired members are eligible
for help through the CTA Disaster Relief Fund. Funding can be used for
expenses related to loss of home or expenses related to evacuation. Forms
are available at www.CTAMemberBenefits.org/drf or by calling
650.552.5200.
